japan also has a labour thanksgiving holiday on the 23rd of november. (i asked my adult class about it, and apparently it has no real significance for them -- just a day off.) this year, japanese thanksgiving and american thanksgiving happen to be on the same day. that means we got the day off to celebrate thanksgiving on thanksgiving.
my dear friends sam and greg devoted tons of time and effort into locating the ingredients for a proper thanksgiving dinner. we had an awesome turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, pumpkin soup, twice-baked potatoes, cornbread, challah, pumpkin risotto, egg nog, bread pudding, green bean casserole, and pumpkin pie. everything was made from scratch, including the egg nog. it was great.

the turkey almost knocked me out. driving an hour home in the dark and rain was a painful struggle, despite the coffee. but i made it, safe, warm, and full.
happy thanksgiving!
